The Sunshine Award

The Sunshine AwardWell, I had my “F” posting for “An Alphabet of Business Questions and Tips” all lined up for today, but a funny thing happened on the way to the posting.

I’m going to admit right here, this makes me a bit uncomfortable. Blowing my own horn is not something that comes easily to me, if at all. Really. As many of you know, I rarely talk about accomplishments, except for the accomplishments of others. It’s just how I’m wired.

But two fabulous (see? there is an “f” word in today’s post) things happened to me, and if you’ll bear with me, I’m gonna’ share.

First, my friend Barbara bestowed upon me, and nine other wonderful individuals this Sunshine Award. Thank you so much Barbara!

Here are the rules for accepting the award

1. Thank the person who gave this award and write a post about it.

2. Answer 10 questions.

3. Pass the award on to 10 – 12 deserved bloggers, link their blogs and let them know you awarded them.

And now for the Q&A

Favorite Color Black. Yes, I know black’s supposedly not a color, but there you go. And because in some cultures it represents water, north and winter, I think it’s apropos.
Favorite Animal Horse
Favorite Number 13. I met my husband 38 years ago on a Friday the 13th:)
Favorite Drink Water. Then red wine. Then single malt scotch. Was I only supposed to name one?
Facebook or Twitter Facebook and Twitter (depending)
Your Passion Life!
Giving or Receiving Gifts Giving.
Favourite Day Today, every day.
Favorite Flowers Lily of the Valley: my birthday flower:)

And now the fun part! Sharing with you some of my favorite people. (This means, of course that, like with any list, some awesome people will not get a mention here today. I’ll use the academy award line of…”oooooh, I’m sure I’m omitting someone”. For those omissions, my apologies.) So here goes:

Kim Davies of The3DRenderer

Kim is an accomplished writer, poet and artist who’s like a sister to me.

Bill Dorman of billdorman

Isn’t Bill on everyone’s list? The ultimate self-deprecating writer whose quick wit, comments and writing style make me LOL, and who’s always a trusted sounding board and friend.

Erica Allison of Allison Development Group

Erica’s writing is spot-on, her vlogs are fabulous and her friendship, a treasure.

Al Smith of The CARE Movement

Al’s working to bring his Positive Attitude Solutions to companies, by showing that morale and attitude of employees is key, and his key is through C.A.R.E. A most worthy cause!

Brankica Underwood of Live Your Love

If Brankica could pack any more valuable information into her “Blog Like A Star” posts, I don’t know how! Awesome content: awesome person:)

Gini Dietrich of Arment Dietrich and Spin Sucks

Gini was one of the first people who helped me online, and who’s always been there with great support and friendship. I don’t know how she’s able to do all she does! She says she has clones. I just think she’s a superhero hiding her true identity:)

Mark Harai of Mark Harai

Mark took a bit of a hiatus from blogging, and I missed him! But….he’s baaaack! Mark has a heart of gold, and is a true, genuine and caring soul.

Jayme Soulati of Soulati-TUDE

Jayme’s posts are always full of kick-butt, no-holds-barred, honest, helpful information. She’s got a style all her own:)

Shonali Burke of Waxing Unlyrical

Shonali is simply one of the nicest people I know: always supporting others, and her work with the Blue Key Campaign is remarkable. I love her posts:)

Jens P. Berget of Slymarketing

Jens is someone I’m just getting to know better, but I like what he writes about, and his comments are always well-thought out, and his content full of gems.

Jack of TheJackB

I.love.Jack’s.writing. ’nuff said:)

And last but not least, Elena Patrice of Websites Give Back. Elena is someone I’ve come to know as a dear friend, and who today honored me with an unexpected vlog about me and my work. Talk about starting off the week with a bang! So Elena is someone you should check out, not because she did this amazing vlog about me (although it rocks!), but because her company is a great example of combining business with philanthropy.

So there’s my list of Sunshine Award recipients. I hope you’ll drop by their sites and check them out:)

Well sumbich; that’s two of these things I have made. I used to whine about not making any list and now I have two in the bag.

Also, I thought it was 7 things about you; and not only did you say 10, you only mentioned 9. I am so confused…………my head hurts……….

Since we run with the same pack of dogs, I know everyone on your list quite well actually. A very worthy list indeed. BTW – you know what they say about running with a pack of dogs and not being the lead dog? What? All ‘they’ say is the view never changes……….what were you thinking?

Thanks so much, it certainly made me smile and now I have the pressure to put one of these lists together (which I hate to do and not because there aren’t worthy people, I’m just afraid I will leave someone off).

Much appreciated and I appreciate your friendship.

Maybe you run with dogs but Kaarina runs with Ocelots.

        Ooooh, I like that image @howieatskypulsemedia:disqus :)

    • http://www.kaarinadillabough.com Kaarina Dillabough

Are you saying I’m not the lead dog @bdorman264:disqus ?:))))

We always run the risk and the reality of leaving someone off, and that’s why I hesitate to do lists like this. But….no guts, no glory, and we gotta’ have guts, right?

I admit…I copied and pasted the ten questions directly from my frien Barbara’s post, and didn’t even see that there were just 9. Glad to see you’re doing your math! (and no…I didn’t copy her responses…sheesh)

Do you think our “pack of dogs” will like being called a “pack of dogs”? I like to think of us as a flash mob waiting to happen:) Cheers! Kaarina

SCORE! How incredibly lovely to be included on your honor roll; thanks, K. I know everyone above except Jens, and I’m gonna change that.

(I can’t believe you just posted a chain blog; that’s hilarious.)

    • http://www.kaarinadillabough.com Kaarina Dillabough

Like I said to @bdorman264:disqus , lists are a tricky thing, because it’s inevitable that you leave people out. But I’m delighted to include you:) Cheers! Kaarina

  • http://www.factotumep.com Erin Feldman

What a fun award! Congratulations, Kaarina. I don’t know everybody you included on your list. I’ll have to remedy that.

    • http://www.kaarinadillabough.com Kaarina Dillabough

Remedy away @ErinFeldman:disqus : they’re all great peeps, as are you, my friend.

  • Elena Patrice

“Sunshine” how appropriate for you Kaarina!! You do know that I don’t say you’re name, I sing it. Thankfully not on the video though! ;)

You are amazingly thoughtful! These folks are some fine folks!! To be included among them … well, talk about humbling and really not worthy. Thank you, thank you!!

You are killin’ me @TheJackB:disqus . I shall await that post with ocelot anticipation:)

  • http://twitter.com/Late_Bloomers Late Bloomers

Kaarina, you are most welcome, you are not blowing your own horn, you are spreading sunshine and maybe build a stone pile from time to time!

Love your list and I look forward to getting to know your sunshine spreaders. Like you I found building the list was the most difficult thing, happy to find more people here I admire very much.

Also love the comments: what a cool coining of “chain blog” by Jayme, someone is really concerned with numbers, Bill, never mind, just tell us all about yourself and make our heads hurt! And I admit: I did not count either, I was too overwhelmed! Howie who has you running with ocelots. I see a meteo specialist, a singer …

    What an awesome bunch!

    • http://www.kaarinadillabough.com Kaarina Dillabough

Ah @twitter-195270602:disqus , you remind me that it’s spreading sunshine:) Thanks Barbara, for the award and the reminder:) It’s wonderful to shine the light on others, and I’m so grateful to all the wonderful friends I’ve met and made online. Thanks! Kaarina

  • http://www.slymarketing.com Jens P. Berget

Thank you so much for this Kaarina. You made my day. I have been struggling with my blog ever since I switched from DreamHost to HostGator (two days ago), and now I can’t get access to my blog. The support at HostGator is awesome, but it takes time since I have no idea what I’m doing :-)

You are awesome, and I really appreciate your friendship. Thank you!

    • http://www.kaarinadillabough.com Kaarina Dillabough

My pleasure @berget:disqus , and I wish a speedy resolution to your blog “challenges”. Just stay on that learning curve with persistence and a smile…and for you, a pizza:) Cheers! Kaarina

Oh, what a lovely patch of sunshine you sent my way, Kaarina! It brightened my dreary world of complete bed rest quite nicely indeed. :) Thank you, thank you my soul-sister friend for this wonderful Sunshine Award. It made me smile and then hug myself and then sing at the top of my lungs! :)

And, to be in the company of such people, wow!!! Feels like I’m eating an entire blueberry cheesecake by myself today! Thanks again, love. :)

YOU are the perfect Sunshine Award recipient…as well as many of the folks on the list who you mentioned. But you are warm, consistent and help others grow. So how perfect is that! Here’s to stopping to celebrate yourself! I’m applauding from my desk!
